PERSPECTIVE PLAN

(2016 to 2026)


Introduction

The primary aim of IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution and also to promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices. In pursuance of this aim, the IQAC of Saraighat College is proactively involved in planning, guiding and monitoring Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE) activities of the institution.

As a post-accreditation measure the IQAC has prepared a Perspective Plan for a progressive growth in academic as well as administrative matters of the college. To prepare this plan, the IQAC has taken into consideration the vision and mission documents of the college as well as the quality benchmarks specified by NAAC in terms of various criterion in the NAAC manual. The IQAC has also taken initiatives to obtain inputs from all stakeholders i.e. the Governing Body, Principal, Faculty members, the Non-teaching staff, Students, Alumni, Parents body and well wishers of the college. This perspective plan covers a period of ten years.

Curricular Aspects

• To prepare academic calendar to serve the specific goals of teaching-learning process.
• To introduce certificate/diploma courses.
• To introduce vocational courses.
• To introduce PG Programs.
• To introduce Commerce stream.
• To review admission process and examination results.
• To conduct sensitization programs on issues like gender, environment etc.
• To conduct special orientation lectures for incoming students from different backgrounds.

Teaching- Learning Process

• To introduce online mechanism to collect feedback from all stakeholders on teaching-learning, infrastructure/physical facilities etc.
• To augment resources to motivate faculty to use ICT based teaching methods. • To engage students in extension activities and outreach programs.
• To conduct remedial classes and special coaching for slow learners.
• To incorporate various methods of continuous internal evaluation like group discussion, paper presentation, quiz, debate etc.
• To encourage teachers to guide and mentor students of feeder schools

Research, Consultancy and Extension

• To form a Research and Development cell.
• To motivate faculties to get engaged in research projects, publication in various research journals.
• Career counselling and placement cell to establish institute-industry interface.
• College to adopt villages to engage and sensitize students to community service.
• NSS, NCC, and other cells/ departments to engage in extension activities. • Blood donation and free health check-up camps to be organized on regular basis.
• MoU’s with other institutions for collaborative activities.

Infrastructure and Learning Resources

• Physical infrastructure to be improved by constructing more classrooms, laboratories, canteen etc.
• Expansion of college campus by acquiring land from government.
• Augmentation of sports facilities and items.
• Boys hostel to be established.
• To increase number of ICT enabled classrooms.
• Seating capacity of library to be increased.
• Number of books and journal in library to be increased.
• Lift and ramp facilities to be provided.
• Wi-Fi and LAN connectivity to be enabled.
• Number of computers for student use to be increased.

Student Support and Progression

• Alumni Association to be registered and to enhance alumni engagement in different activities.
• To conduct soft skill development programs for students.
• A placement centre to be created to support student progression and placement.
• To motivate students to join in vocational courses.
• To organize study tours, industrial visits, field visits.

Governance, Leadership & Management

• Decentralization and participatory approach in governance will be encouraged.
• To frame policies for effective functioning of academic and administrative mechanism.
• Faculty Development Programs for teachers and administrative training for staff to be organized on regular basis.
• Transparent and effective financial management system to be promoted.
• Continuous efforts to be made for resource mobilization and utilization.

Innovative and Best Practices

• College to conduct Academic and Administrative Audit, Green Audit, Energy Audit etc.
• To promote a green and clean campus.
• Installation of solar energy panel.
• To identify and execute the feasibility of best practices of the college.
